Avoid the pain and expense of litigation..... Mediate! |
"..." South Shore Living, March 2007
BWe Convinced there had to be a better way to help people resolve conflict after witnessing exorbitant sums spent by clients litigating in public, Michele Dorsey founded her mediation firm in 1990. Safe Harbor Mediation is nestled next to cranberry bogs in Scituate where Michele has been joined by her daughter Catherine, in one of the first mediation practices established on the South Shore. Both Dorseys are practicing attorneys able to guide their mediation clients based upon their practical experiences in the courtroom which they combine with creative, innovative problem solving. "Regardless of how well-intended judges may be, no one knows a situation as well as the people involved," Michele says. "Designing your own solution to a problem results in both sides feeling satisfied in the end." Michele, an adjunct professor of law, teaches Mediation at New England School of Law where she has taught since 1986. Both she and Catherine have extensive training in mediation, and have studied at the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Safe Harbor offers mediation services in many areas, including Family issues related to divorce, property division, custody, visitation, child and spousal support; parent/child conflicts, grandparent rights to visitation, estate disputes, unmarried couples; Employment; Corporate/Commercial; Community; Educational, Personal Injury and Family-Owned Business disputes. "Conflict in life is inevitable," Michele says. "We view it as an opportunity to be constructive and creative. People are often surprised to find life is actually richer after mediating a dispute. Doors and windows to a better world open when you confront what seems like a disaster and embrace it as a chance for self-determination. |
